Tigers Blow It In Tampa

by Dan Cash

The words came clearly out of Jim Leyland’s mouth Sunday afternoon, “we should be ashamed and I’m not sure everybody is.” That about sums up the Tigers 6-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in 10 innings.

The Tigers send Bobby Seay to the hill in the 10th before relieving him before throwing a single pitch with closer Fernando Rodney. Rodney proceeded to hit one batter and walk 3 in the bottom of the 10th.

With the bases loaded…the final walk came through on a low changeup to Carlos Pena. The Tigers fall to 1 game below .500 and 7 back of the division leading Minnesota Twins.

Up next the Tigers sorely need a win Tuesday when they head to U.S. Cellular to take on the White Sox with coverage beginning at 7:50 on 590 KZO.
