Leading 8-2 headed into the bottom of the 9th the Detroit Tigers seemed to be on their way to an easy victory.
That is before Todd Jones walked a couple batters, gave up 2 runs and left 2 men on when Fernando Rodney stepped on the rubber getting a great play from Clete Thomas to end it.
Thomas’ catch gave the Tigers an 8-4 win. The win coupled with a Chicago White Sox loss brings the Tigers to within 6 games of the first place Sox in the American League Central Division.
Next up the Tigers and Mariners play game 2 of their series this afternoon with coverage beginning at 4:10 on 590 KZO
