It was disastrous weekend for the Tigers before pulling off a 4-2 win to close their 4-game-series with the Minnesota Twins. Justin Verlander continued to find his old self on the mound Sunday allowing only 2 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings to improve to 7-9 on the season.
In the outfield Clete Thomas continued to prove he belongs driving his first Major League homerun into the seats with Marcus Thames on in the 2nd.
The save was Todd Jones 17th of the season while Joel Zumaya pitched a scoreless 8th inning, stranding 2 Twins runners.
Up next the Tigers get some much needed time off during the All-Star break. The Tigers will next play the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday with coverage beginning at 6:45 on 590 KZO.
