Gary Sheffield Walks Off With Single For 8-7 Tigers Win

Tied at 7 in the bottom of the 9th Clete Thomas doubled off the left field wall to get himself into scoring position with no one out.

Then with a 3-2 count Gary Sheffield grabbed his 4th and most important hit of the day knocking in Clete Thomas with a single in the bottom of the 9th.

Carlos Guillen also went 4-for-5 knocking in 3 runs in the 8-7 Tigers win over the Cardinals Wednesday. Todd Jones worked a 1-2-3 top of the 9th before Sheffield’s heroics.
