2004 was a magical season for teams owned by Detroit Pistons owner Bill Davidson…his Pistons beat the Lakers in 5 games to win the NBA Championship after his Tampa Bay Lightning knocked off the Calgary Flames in the Stanley Cup Final.
That’s the last time that will happen as the NHL’s board of governors approved the sale of the Lightning to a group of investors.
