by Dan Cash

It’s one of the biggest storylines at the Beijing games…Michael Phelps quest for 8 swimming Gold Medals. Phelps is that much closer to breaking Mark Spitz 1972 record of 7 Gold Medals after covering the 1st leg of the 4-By-100 Meter Relay Sunday evening.

Phelps swam a strong first half…but the Americans still trailed headed into the final leg when 32-year-old Jason Lezak ran down France’s Alain Bernard to grab the Gold. Headed into the race Phelps spoke about the media coverage surrounding him…

The Americans shattered the World Record with a time of 3 Minutes 8-Point-2-4 Seconds. In basketball Sunday the U.S. was up against the Chinese National team. Dwayne Wade led U.S. with 19 points in a 101-70 win over the host Chinese.
