Trailing the Minnesota Twins 4-1 in the 6th the Tigers started inching closer to a comeback making it 4-2 on a Placido Polanco single, than it was Carlos Guillen making it 4-3 before Matt Joyce tripled in Gary Sheffield in the top of the 8th.
Than tied at 4 with Joyce on 3rd it was Curtis Granderson stepping up to give the Tigers the winning run.
Casey Fossum got the win, while Joel Zumaya shut down the Twins in a couple of nail biter innings to secure the 5-4 Tigers win. Up next the Tigers and Twins play game 2 tonight at 7:50 on 590 KZO.
